  • Making Math Connections schools have worked hard this fall to implement use of their Numeracy Centers and generally increase mathematical density in their classrooms. Rymfire Elementary and Bunnell Elementary in Flagler County, Melrose in Putnam County, Lafayette Elementary in Lafayette County, and Hilliard Elementary, Middle, and High Schools in Nassau County have all had Sherry into their schools for initial training, follow-up training, or student model lessons. These schools will be joined by Old Kings Elementary in Flagler and Montello Elementary in Lewiston, Maine, during the winter and spring of 2009.

  • Summer 2009 Making Math Connections workshops have already been requested for new schools in both Florida and Maine. Vennlogic, Inc., welcomes these new additions to our ever-growing cadre of teachers successfully using Sherry's teaching techniques. And speaking of "successfully..."

  • Principals and teachers email Sherry regularly to share Making Math Connections successes. Click on the About tab at the top of this page to read new Comments.

  • Also at the Kaplan website, you can find the new Activity Cards. Check these out! Math activities tied to children's books for grade bands K-1, 2-3, and 4-5 provide great integration of mathematics concepts and literature.

  • Did you know? To date, teachers in at least 25 states plus Ontario Canada have purchased and are using Numeracy Centers in their classroom! Several districts in Florida have purchased Numeracy Centers for every single elementary teacher. WOW! The word is spreading. Check out this great resource tool at the Kaplan website at www.k5kaplan.com

  • A new Kaplan/Vennlogic product is in the works! K-2 and 3-5 Content Boxes are being written as you read! The first to be released will be the K-2 Algebraic Thinking box, followed by the 3-5 Algebraic Thinking box. Both are ready-to-use teacher resource boxes focusing on the named math strand, and include specific lessons, teacher blackline masters, student worksheets, and all lesson-recommended manipulatives. These content boxes are supplemental in nature, but hint at a full math content kit for the future!

  • Vennlogic joins Texas Instruments as a TI Alliance Company. Visit the Texas Instruments website at education.ti.com and click on the Professional Development dropdown to Alliances to read all about it. This is a big step for Vennlogic, but a welcome one as the Texas Instruments Company has been a valued partner since Vennlogic's inception. We are proud to be a TI Alliance Partner!

  • Vennlogic, Inc. submitted a Federal Research Grant proposal in June of 2008. This grant was written to show the efficacy of regular Numeracy Center use. We are anxiously awaiting the award announcements sometime in February or March of 2009. Grant collaborators include Kaplan K-5, The Center for Educational Research at FSU, Jacksonville University Math Department, and two targeted schools in North Carolina. This will be a very exciting and monumental event, if we are indeed funded. Keep your fingers crossed! We all know how well the Numeracy Center works with K-5 students, but through this grant opportunity, we can show it formally.
